For the start, gave Van der Poel that he is still pretty stiff felt after his heavy crash Wednesday in Nokere Curonian. But that seemed fine to fall during the match, despite the more than twenty kilometers of cobblestones in the same region as the finale of Paris-Roubaix (a race that Van der Poel this year don't drive).

Van der Poel was almost the entire race, in a figurative seat, because in a breakaway group of fifteen riders, he had his team mates Jimmy Janssens and Lasse Norman Hansen.
