Canada and US end customs dispute

Canada and the United States announced on Friday in a joint statement that they will remove the tariffs on steel and aluminum. U.S. President Donald Trump had imposed in June last year customs duties of 25 percent on steel imports from Canada and from ten percent to aluminum.

Canada had responded with tariffs on US imports in the amount of around eleven billion euros. The punitive tariffs had brought the ratification of the previously-Canada, Mexico and the United States negotiated a new trade agreement under the name of the USMCA to a Halt. (fal/afp)
