Uncertainties are raised by a new meeting at the gate of the start of the course

The most unusual, but also the most coordinated, return to school Marino Aguilera, the mayor; Paloma Myano, the mayor of Education; and Jesus Aguilar (the Councilor for Citizen Security) met with the directors and school transport companies of the educational centers AMPAS and AMPAS to plan the students' return to Alcala. Agustin Callejas (director of the Health Center) and David Del Fresno (Officer and Second Chief of Local Police), attended the Young Building meeting.

According to a press release from the Consistory, "The issues addressed were cleaning the centers; school transport; provision of municipal buildings; and the provision PPE or any protective material that may have been required." Paloma Moyano (head of Education) thanked everyone for being present "at this call in where we want to make every data available to you, and answer any questions that you might have about the start of course."

A circular was also sent to all AMPAS in the municipality, detailing all information the City Council has. Alcala la Real has a lower incidence of COVID-19 than other Spanish municipalities. Agustin Callejas stated that no positive PCR test has been done on minors. All nursery school staff have been sampled and the remaining teachers and staff at the various educational centers in the municipality will also be tested in the coming days.

Mayor said that the course would be marked by security measures, and there will be doubts about the impact of the pandemic on the classroom. Past experiences such as summer reinforcements and summer camps in which there were no Covid-19 cases and data on the spread and incidence of the disease in this population confirm that children and teens are less likely to be affected by the disease and its potential spread than other populations. This does not mean there won't be problems in schools, although there may be. However, in the context the pandemic, I believe that the school doesn't start in the worst place and will not confine us again if they reach that point.

IDEAL contacted Ana Maria Villegas (president of the Federation of AMPAS Sierra Sur) to get first-hand information about the situation of families and to find out what steps are being taken by centers to start the course. . AMPAS presented some suggestions to Antonio Sutil during their July visit as Education delegate. Villegas admitted that some suggestions were "basic" but she insisted on the "right to determine what families have." Each school will receive a protocol of actions that will be approved by the school councils. This must be completed in the first week of September considering that the course starts on September 10.

He acknowledged that the situation in the town was "completely different" to that in other areas of the Spanish geography. It is in this environment that it is necessary to work and take steps. Parents are concerned about the conciliation between work and family life and are waiting to hear from educational centers. He said, "From the Parents’ Associations and the AMPAS Federation, we are going to keep raising awareness among the population so security measures continue being respected and complied. "He also acknowledged that if there had been these protocols at the start of the summer, families could have organized themselves."

They are also working with the Federation on a project they hope will soon see the light. This project aims to provide truthful information to families and offer them a platform for training. She stated that they need information and training at the local level.

The City Council will disinfect all its educational centers in preparation for the beginning of the academic year. They will also have cleaning reinforcement during school hours.
