Federal states or RKI did not publish any corona case numbers again at the weekend.
Germany starts the new week with a 7-day average of 32,587.
Since the intermediate low 12 days ago, this average has risen by almost 15 percent.
The nationwide incidence is now 243.
At the beginning of last week it was 216.
Furthermore, NRW alone is in the red compared to the previous week.
634 corona deaths were reported to the RKI in the past week - after 537 deaths the week before.
However, the increase is at least largely due to late registrations from Baden-Württemberg.
The fact that the burden of intensive care medicine with Covid 19 cases is likely to continue to decrease speaks for the fact that the number of deaths will initially continue to fall.
From Saturday to Sunday, 46 corona cases were admitted to intensive care units.
This is the lowest daily value since August 22, 2021, in almost 13 months.
But it is also true that the numbers are also increasing again in the particularly vulnerable group of over 60-year-olds.
In the week before last, the number of newly reported cases in the over 60 age group had only fallen slightly, by less than one percent.
In the past week, the number has risen quite sharply, by 16 percent.
This is the first weekly rise after seven straight declines.
Every day we hear the new Corona case numbers. But what do they mean, where are we in the pandemic and what is the trend? Olaf Gersemann explains and evaluates the current figures briefly and concisely - every morning anew.
