Through an agreement with Travelsens, the Provincial Council has strengthened the presence of Costa de Almeria in the Nordic market. This agreement guarantees that tourists from these countries will arrive by direct flight to the province between November and December of this year.
The Provincial Council has set this year's main goal to restore international tourism, after the complete recovery of national tourism in 2021. This includes the removal of restrictions on mobility, global advancements in vaccination, and the restoration of travel confidence. In the next five month, the province will welcome at least 12,500 tourists from the Nordic countries.
Fernando Gimenez (deputy for tourism), stressed the importance and added that it "opens up new perspectives" and strengthens the presence of "Costa de Almeria" in the Nordic countries. This is a very attractive market for our sector of tourism, which further reinforces our firm commitment in growing the number of international tourists who visit us each year>>.
He stressed that Almeria's characteristics are ideal for tourists from Denmark and Finland, Norway and Sweden. This is because the country's landscape, weather, history, customs, and culture will surprise them with a totally different offer than what they could find in their home countries. The Nordic market has a high buying power and often chooses Spain. This is why 'Costa de Almeria" must be well-positioned to become a destination of choice for tourists.
Travelsens has also agreed that passengers arriving from abroad must spend at least five nights at a hotel in the province. They will also organize at most one excursion, route or activity of active tourism in a municipality outside the one they are staying. This is so that everyone who travels and stays overnight in Almeria can have this opportunity.
Almeria Airport has 20 destinations with direct flights to different airlines this summer, until November.
