Toya and Peal de Becerro are collaborating to improve safety and visibility on the road.

According to a statement by the Provincial Council, Jaen has given more than 142,000 euros for the adaptation of the JA-7106 road that connects Peal de Becerro and Toya.

Jose Castro, the deputy for Municipal Infrastructures, visited the works of the project with Ana Dolores Rubia (the mayor of Peal de Becerro), commenting that it improves visibility and safety at the beginning of this road as well as until the exit. This is because the road's initial section has "some characteristics in terms slope and curve openings that make visibility difficult".

"In recent years, there have been many incidents here, especially in agricultural transport." Jose Castro explains that what we are trying to do is solve the problem that neighbors who frequently pass by this road demand.

Castro believes that the work in progress includes "the renewal of vertical, horizontal, and beaconing signs" which are necessary to "underline the edge and define the layout". The drainage systems will be improved, and the water supply channeling modified to adapt to the new layout.

This intervention also improves pedestrian safety by physically seperating road traffic and the pedestrian space by building a pedestrian lanes on the left side.

Jose Castro believes that this project to improve communication between Peal de Becerro's population and Toya's inhabitants facilitates "access to cultural and tourist resources" such as the Iberian Sepulchral Chamber in Toya which, this year, celebrates the centenary celebration of its designation as a Historic-Artistic Monument.

This intervention on the JA-7106 is part of other actions already performed on this road in the provincial network. For example, the reinforcement of pavement along six kilometers of extension cost more than 500,000 euro in 2016.
