To celebrate Candelaria, the City Council of La Zubia will distribute over 600 oil buns

According to tradition, La Zubia will be celebrating its Candelaria festival next Saturday (February 5th). A huge bonfire will be held at the Parque de la Encina's Music Bandstand starting at 5:00 pm. It will be made from logs brought by neighbors to cleanse their souls from the Christmas excesses. There will be plenty of music, dancing and oil buns.

Zubian City Council will distribute over 600 oil buns to all attendees. The party will also feature dance performances by La Solea y Canela y Limon who will perform tangos of Granada, sevillanas rocieras, and a fusion between belly dance and flamenco among other musical genres.

Natalia Arregui (Councilor for Festivals of the City Council of Lazubia) encourages residents to take part in the traditional festival because "it is part of our heritage."

Puri Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia, emphasizes that the Candelaria festival will be held again following last year's interruption due to coronavirus. He also recalls that every year, more neighbors take part in this festival attended by Zubians of all age>>.
