It is crucial to consider a number of factors when buying something. The quality, price and prestige of the company that manufactured or markets the product are all important. But, the prestige of a brand does not always reflect reality. These are also the most costly economically, so be careful when making purchases.
This is evident in the example of cars. They can be purchased for several thousand euros and allow you to travel many years. But not all models are created equal. The truth is, failing to purchase a car for a few hundred euros is no different from failing to invest thousands. The Organization of Consumers and Users conducted a traditional study of reliability and satisfaction of the various car brands operating in Spain.
Surveys were conducted among customers to determine how often they visit the workshop for breakdowns and what kind of results they have had with their vehicles. These results reveal that Asian brands are the best at reliability while hybrid gasoline cars are the most resilient to breakdowns.
The OCU has conducted a survey of 52.430 motorists across 5 European countries. The OCU asked each of the respondents to indicate their car model, breakdowns since purchase and their level of satisfaction with the vehicle. Lexus is the most reliable brand with 95 out of 100 reliability. They are closely followed by Subaru, Toyota and Mitsubishi, Kia Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda. Mazda, Seat, and Dacia. The opposite list shows that the most reliable vehicles according to OCU surveys are the ones made by the Chevrolet, Alfa Romeo and Land Rover brands.
They also provide a list of the most common breakdowns that consumers report. The most common breakdowns are electrical, brake, power, electronics, steering, heating, ventilation, and engine faults. They also reported the satisfaction of drivers with their cars with nearly all brands receiving the highest scores. Only Opel, Fiat Lancia, Lancia, and Chevrolet vehicles are slightly lower.
