The next commander-in-chief of EVA 9 is received by the Government of Motril

Half a century of memories and experiences later, the emotional and physical bond between the city and the Air Force emblematic squadron remains indelible. This affirmation was made by Luisa Garcia Chamorro (Metropolitan Mayor), Antonio Escamez (Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning), and other members of the government team. They wanted to welcome Miguel Antonio Castro Arjona to the role of chief commander. He will be replacing Jose Luis Rando in the next few months.

Garcia Chamorro was not willing to overlook the "authentic revolution" that the establishment in Motril of an Air Force headquarters was a part of. The mayor added that the city is proud to have a piece from this famous squad in Motril. Without them, it would be difficult to understand their history."

"Today is bittersweet because we will soon say farewell to a great professional such as Jose Luis Rando, the commander of EVA 9. He was a leader in one of the most violent times in recent history.

Jose Luis Rando is the commander of EVA 9. Motril will always be his home. He stated that he is grateful for all the experiences he had in the city. The commander stated that he will continue to work with the City Council on the various projects they have been able together. He also mentioned that he was grateful for the connections with all the people he has met over the three years.

Miguel Antonio Castro Arjona has, for his part, expressed gratitude to the city for the "love it always gives him". Castro stated that his role in the city is to "try to reward that Motril loves us, so I come humble to serve this city"

Antonio Escamez (deputy mayor for Urban Planning) expressed gratitude for EVA 9, which is "a fundamental piece of the city's past that has always been close for all Motrilenos".
