Ramon Martinez, Huescar's mayor, announced that he and his fellow teammates from the municipal team, which governs Huesca in coalition with PP, have decided to leave the party and create an independent platform.
"The municipal group Ciudadanos worked tirelessly for 8 years to challenge the old policy. Militants and party representatives at the local level believed from the beginning in Ciudadanos' ideas, which were based on the defense and solidarity of freedom, equality, and union. We were willing to face any decision made by the party at the national level, despite the fact many of them had not been approved by its militants. Name the current mayor of Huescar.
In June 2019, the municipal group Ciudadanos Huescar joined the local government and has been the mayor since July 2021. It has been Huescar's main priority since then. Ramon Martinez states that Huescar, far from being supported by his party has felt a deep sense of abandonment by its leaders. Councilors from Ciudadanos, Huescar, have said they are tired of fighting and working, and that they feel it is not representing them. Therefore, they decided to stop participating in militancy in Cs. "But, we feel more excited and eager than ever. We will continue working for Huescar with an independent project, located above political acronyms. This is aimed at solving any need or claim of our neighbours. Cs councilors want Huescar back to be a reference at both the provincial and regional levels, making it the municipality everyone wants.
13 councillors make up the Municipal Corporation of Huescar. 5 are from the PSOE and 4 PP, while 4 are PP and 4 Cs. These two parties govern themselves with the 8 councillors.
