Paloma Moyano, the mayor of Youth, Sports and Education, was presented with a canvas featuring the golden bow, symbol of the fight to childhood cancer, by the Association of Mothers and Fathers of Oncological Children of Granada ("AUPA") on Tuesday. The City Council expressed its solidarity with this initiative by making this gesture
This activity was chosen because September is a month that is dedicated to raising awareness about childhood cancer. Moyano emphasized the importance of raising awareness about childhood cancer in society and making children who are affected visible. That is why we joined this initiative.
This activity is part of the worldwide campaign "Turn on Hope", created by Childhood Cancer International. It was promoted in Spain through the Spanish Federation of Children with Cancer (and its 21 associated associations).
This campaign reminds us that approximately 250,000 children are affected by cancer every 3 minutes. It is the leading cause for death in children and adolescents between the ages of 1 and 14 years old.
