Termination for smoking break? The “time clock verdict” is so explosive

Even if some employees and employers are not yet fully aware of it: Working hours must be recorded immediately. However, there is no law on this yet. The House of Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) would like to present the corresponding draft in this quarter. Nevertheless, companies are already obliged to provide their employees with a system for recording working hours and to enforce this. That's the theory. Because there are hardly any comprehensive controls or penalties. A current employee survey provides insights into how many companies are already using time checks - and in which cases the possible time recording for employees would even become a reason for termination.
