Two brand new events will be missed. Alcala Sample and the Vegetable Contest have been removed from the Alcala summer calendar. The Agriculture area has made this decision in response to major events like Easter, Crosses and fairs which were this year suspended because of Covid-19.
It is difficult to make the right decision. However, I believe it is crucial to act responsibly and sensibly. We have no other option than to prevent the spread of the virus. We all know that the Alcala Show and the Vegetable Contest are both events that draw large crowds. Given these circumstances, and in spite of ourselves, it is best to avoidlamenting Miguel Sanchez-Canete, the Councilor for Agriculture.
Santa Ana would have hosted a Vegetable Contest the last weekend in August. The Alcala Show was set for mid-September. "With new developments that were being worked on since the close of the last edition," Sanchez-Canete said. Sanchez-Canete says that these plans will need to be rescheduled as health is more important than everything.
