34,092 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.
In the previous week comparison, there is a minus of 0.6 percent.
This is the first drop since December 1st.
The nationwide 7-day incidence is still increasing, from 259 to 261.
It is declining in seven of the 16 federal states.
157 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday.
This brings us to a total of 884 deceased in the current week.
Only 252 of 1,284 intensive care units in Germany – i.e. not even one in five – describe their current operating situation as “regular”.
The normal state was so rare for a short time at the beginning of December 2021 - at the peak of the delta wave - but otherwise never since the beginning of the pandemic.
This results from the daily queries of the Divi intensive care register.
In contrast, 49 percent of intensive care units consider their operational situation to be “limited” and another 21 percent perceive it as “partially limited”.
Unlike a year ago, Corona is not the main cause of the tense situation.
However, the number of Covid-19 cases in intensive care units continues to increase, which leads to further stress.
Yesterday it was 1269, up 13 percent on the previous week - and at the highest level since November 8th.
