"Relaxation signals from intensive care units"

48,556 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday, 58 percent fewer than a week ago.

However, nine federal states used yesterday's Reformation Day not to report any figures.

Six more are believed to be going on reporting strikes today to mark All Saints' Day.

The second half of the week should therefore be very much characterized by late reports.

The nationwide incidence falls again, from 404 to 352. It is now three digits below the previous week's level in all 16 federal states.

150 corona deaths were also reported to the RKI yesterday. That is 123 fewer than a week ago, although reporting failures are likely to play a dominant role here as well.

Contrary to the current trend, the number of corona cases in intensive care units did not fall yesterday, but rose slightly from 1580 to 1584.

But the decline in the past two weeks - a total of 14 percent so far - is having an effect:

The number of free intensive care beds is tending to increase again, the daily value on Monday – 2924 nationwide – was the highest since October 4th.

And the number of intensive care units that describe their operating situations as “limited” remains significantly higher at 510.

But here, too, a downward trend is emerging.

Every day we hear the new Corona case numbers. But what do they mean, where are we in the pandemic and what is the trend? Olaf Gersemann explains and evaluates the current figures briefly and concisely - every morning anew.
