PSOE denounces the fact that the "summer plan" for health and the collapse it will lead to is not yet in place

The PSOE of Almeria denounced Monday the "unjustifiable delays" in the application in Andalusian Public Health of the so-called summer plan. This plan covers vacations for health professionals and is declared to be covering the period between 15 June and September 30, as stated by Juan Antonio Lorenzo, Secretary General of Almeria Socialists.

The socialist leader remarked that there are some provinces where "some municipalities almost double or triple the population, especially in coastal ones." This situation, he said, "must be coordinated and the well-deserved vacations for the staff of the public health sector."

"Unfortunately, this plan is not known to our knowledge. We know that all the health centers in the province will close at 3:00 PM for two months. These centers' directors have the freedom to pick the dates. We believe it is important to strengthen the staff in the entire coast area," Lorenzo stated.

He specifically mentioned Poniente District in the Aguadulce Sur and Roquetas Norte health centers. In the Almeria District, to San Jose, Aguamarga and Carboneras; and in North-Levante to San Juan de los Terreros and Garrucha.

"To date, Andalusia's public health officials have remained silent. We are curious about what reforms they will make and what templates they will use. And we are also wondering how much they are going invest in this "summer plan" that has yet to start in a province with high health lists. The leader of Almeria PSOE said while demanding "the Government Of Moreno Bonilla not just provide quality care for the residents of this province, but also for those who come to us during the summer."

He lamented that if the primary care vacancies aren't filled in these months, the "everything will fall again as it usually does" because "people would go to the emergency department and there would be a collapse."

He said that the plan was launched every June 15th and that we didn't have any planning. Although "the well-deserved rest for health professionals" is important, it is clear that there is not much planning. We wonder how many additional professionals will be included and how much investment will be made. The socialist leader reproached that there is no news this year, other than the fact that all health centers will be closed for two more months in the summer.
