Protesting in Granada: The Pride March, with a lot humor: Long Live Franco, Long Live Franco... Battiato!>

Hundreds of people from all ages - including children - joined yesterday's colourful, fun, and feisty LGTBI Pride party in Granada at 6 in the afternoon of July 1. It was held in the Jardines Del Triunfo in Granada and featured the motto 'Respect diversity and human rights'.

The first part was a march that ran through the Gran Via, ending at the Plaza del Carmen, the capital. After the speeches, it began a lively festival that lasted until the early hours of the morning.

His always politically incorrect sense humor was the best thing. This is especially true for those who hate these moves and are now very committed to 'cultural war' against LGTBI. The demonstrators had previously resisted laughter, jokes, and sarcasm from close quarters.

This is why the advance guard members aboard a blue convertible Golf did not stop shouting the slogan "Long Live Franco!" There were some cheers that initially caused stupor and commotion. You only needed to wait for the laughter to burst: "Long Live Franco... Battiato! Battiato! Franco was not the dictator of infamous memories. He composed homosexual hymns like 'Permanent Center of Gravity, 'I want you to dance' and the evocative "Nevski Perspective".

"Viva Franco Battiato" is the chorus to a song by the group Granada Modele Fatale. They have sung it with Ninos Mutantes. It's quite a hit.

Modele Fatale, by the way was one of those groups that performed at Plaza del Carmen following the end of the manifa'. Kika Lorace and Los Bomberos rounded out the rest of this cartel.

The actor and creator Manuel M. Mateo paid tribute to Federico Garcia Lorca before the concerts. He was about to die from the direct sun's penultimate rays. He laughed it off with humor. He said, "I'm dryer than the tongue of the 'yesaire'," but he was joking. Fortunately, he had already been enjoying the shade and a bar that offered cool drinks.

The City Council and Provincial Council promoted the march. They also featured a huge rainbow-colored flag, a double-decker bus (also convertible and blue), that was occupied by a fun and rowdy group of drag queens who drank water pistols on the people around them. This was an important detail that was greatly appreciated.

The public address system went off when the bus arrived at Plaza del Ayuntamiento. It blared with "Who cares" by Alaska and Carlos Berlanga. This is now the official anthem for the LGTBI community, as well as millions of music lovers. The Consistory's outskirts became a bustling dance floor despite the relentless heat.

Two young men had previously read the pride manifesto. This statement demanded that the group demand basic human rights.

They were aware that these are difficult times for poetry and they also criticised the extreme right's behavior.

Francisco Cuenca, mayor of Granada, congratulated the festival's recovery after restrictions imposed by coronavirus pandemic but warned that it is impossible to give up the fight so that the rights that were achieved are not lost.

On the 29th of October, another demonstration took place in the capital, this time with a slogan saying "Faced With Their Hatred, Our Pride." "Not one step back!"
