Prince Charles' alleged comment that Harry and Meghan's skin was 'weaponized by palace', according to author

In an exclusive interview with TODAY Monday, the author of a new book on the British royal family stated that Prince Charles made a "benign comment" about future grandchildren's skin tone. This was later "weaponized against the royal family" by palace insiders.

Christopher Andersen has been covering the British royal family for over 50 years. His new book "Brothers and Wives" explains the relationship between Prince Harry and Prince William.

According to the new book, Prince Charles asked about Meghan and Harry's potential skin color. Andersen claims that Charles asked Camilla, Duchess-of-Cordland, what the complexion of their future children might be over breakfast.

Andersen claims that the conversation occurred on the same day Harry and Meghan announced their engagement. According to the author, it was an innocent conversation that was turned into something negative by royal advisers. It was shared with Harry and Meghan.

"What I'm referring to is that Prince Charles began to think about their future grandchildren on the morning Harry and Meghan were engaged," Andersen explained to Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.

"Here is the beautiful, biracial American woman who is also the most famous redhead in the world. This is my grandfather. We all speculate about that. It was made toxic by the men in grey who manage the palace organization.

The New York Post was told by a Prince Charles spokesperson that this is fiction and should not be discussed further.

In their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, Meghan and Harry discussed an alleged conversation about Archie’s skin tone.

Winfrey asked Meghan, who is bi-racial, if there were any concerns or conversations among royals about how dark her son's skin would be at birth.

Although the couple refused to reveal who said it, they later confirmed that it wasn't Queen Elizabeth II or her husband Prince Philip.
