Olula del Rio is presented with a selection of the finest national photography by The Perez Siquier Center

With the opening of the Perez Siquier Center, the City of Culture of Olula del Rio completed its artistic offering. This afternoon, the Olula del Rio City Council, the Provincial Council, and the Ibanez-Cosentino Foundation inaugurated the Center's new facilities. They will enrich the cultural and tourist offerings of the province and consolidate it as one the most important artistic reference points in southeast Spanish.

Carlos Perez Siquier, a photographer, was joined by Javier Aureliano Garcia, the president of Diputacion; Antonio Martinez Pascual, the mayor of Olula Del Rio; and Andres Garcia Ibanez, president of Ibanez-Cosentino Art Foundation; Jose Martinez-Cosentino, the multinational based in Almeria. Yesterday, they inaugurated the Perez Siquier Center. This is an exhibition space that honors Jose Martinez-Cosentino and other avant-garde photography.

The 1,400-square-meter building was designed as a tribute the classical order Michelangelo. It is divided into two floors with five rooms on ground floor and seven on upper floor. Two of the rooms have already been filled with content: one is dedicated to Perez Siquier's most recent work and the other to Spanish photographers, titled 'Contemporary Photography 1970-2025'. Rest of the spaces will receive works in stages so they are accessible to the public.

The President of the Provincial Council acknowledged the Foundation and City Council at the opening ceremony. He encouraged them to continue their work and make this "dream" come true and to count on their support.

The president reiterated the commitment of the Almeria Provincial Council to the City of Culture of Olula del Rio from its inception. "It is one of those ideas which become opportunities for all Almeria." In creating wealth and jobs, encouraging culture and promoting quality tourist through it . All this leads to a more prosperous province. With all the projects that make Almeria a proud province, the Diputacion de Almeria is always there.

Finally, President Garcia stated that "the history of Almeria's City of Culture is the same as the history of our land" and asked Garcia Ibanez to tell Garcia Ibanez that they "never stop dreaming" and "sharing" with Almeria. "The illusion to create" is what Garcia Ibanez says, "progress is realizing utopias".

Alliance for Culture

The Almeria Provincial Council has been working closely with the Ibanez-Cosentino Art Foundation since 2011. This collaboration has helped to promote and maintain the Museum and other cultural activities in the region. This collaboration has been fruitful and focuses on the overall objectives of consolidating and promoting cultural tourism in the region as well as the province, and guaranteeing cultural access for all.

The future Museum of Contemporary Spanish Realism is another of the great joint projects of the Provincial Institution, Ibanez-Cosentino Art Foundation, and the Provincial Hospital. It will be the last civil building that remains in Almeria capital from the 16th Century.
