Raquel Espin, the territorial delegate for Sustainable Development has taken part in this morning's conference, which was organized by the Infoca Plan. It aimed to make students at Olula del Rio CEIP Trina Rull aware of the importance and necessity of working to stop forest fires. Rafael Yebra, the Infoca Plan's provincial coordinator, was also present at this activity.
Espin assured that "from Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, we wanted to start this educational day so the 328 schoolchildren of the center learn about the work of the Infoca Plan in relation to forest fire prevention." In the first place, Espin gave a talk on prevention. Later, Cedefo de Seron (15 professionals from the Forest Defense Center) held an exhibition with the MA-1 helicopter, where children could see firsthand the equipment and devices of the Infoca.
The delegate for Sustainable Development in Almeria stated that the Primary and Infant students were able to "get closer to the values and serious threat posed forest fires" and also learned about the resources available to professionals working in this area.
Olula del Ribeiro's mayor stressed his support for the idea of launching activities like the one that was conducted this morning. Prevention is everyone's responsibility and it is crucial to communicate social prevention tools to all citizens involved in fighting forest fires.
