Officials are investigating the plane accident on the circus site in Duisburg

Experts from the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) continued the investigations at the crash site of a small aircraft in Duisburg on Monday morning. In the parking lot directly in front of the circus tent of the Flic Flac circus, a small-engine plane with two occupants crashed on Sunday afternoon and burned out completely. The two occupants, whose identities are still unknown, died in the plane crash. According to police, no other people were injured in the accident.

The scene of the accident was still cordoned off in the morning with white privacy screens and warning tape. The investigations are being conducted by the police in Essen and the Duisburg public prosecutor's office. He expects that around noon there will be more information about the two dead and possibly also about the cause of the accident, said the spokesman for the Duisburg public prosecutor, Felix Bachmann, the German Press Agency in the morning. "We can't give any information about it yet."

What is certain is that it was very fortunate that nothing worse happened. Because the accident happened during the afternoon performance of the circus show, which was well filled with around 900 visitors. The entrance to the main tent was less than 100 meters away. In between there is a beer garden, which is also run by the circus. Since the spring, Flic Flac has had permanent quarters next to Duisburg's main train station, not far from the train tracks and the A59 motorway.

Aerial photos show that eight cars parked in the parking lot in front of the tent were completely destroyed by the fire. The burnt-out wreckage and other vehicles damaged by flying parts of the small aircraft were still at the accident site the day after the accident. Around 60 firefighters were busy extinguishing the fire on Sunday.
