No, science has not fallen into disrepute

"The most significant problem is our collective inability to distinguish between fact and fiction," writes the Club of Rome in its September 2022 report. Unfortunately, WELT editor-in-chief Ulf Poschardt relies more on fiction than on facts with his recent frontal attack against scientists. When he claims that some scientists are "contemptuous of freedom" or "submissive government advisors", then that is an insinuation towards people who put their expertise at the service of society.

Poschardt's bluster about a "re-education tendency of many universities" is tasteless and misguided, because the universities in Germany are still places of free expression of opinion and free science. By equating climate activists with “child soldiers”, the author finally crosses the line of unethical defamation.
