The Nijar City Council will make an exceptional investment, which will be charged to its own money. It will allocate 425,000 euros for cleaning and maintaining beaches. 350,000 euros have been allocated for improvements to roads and buildings. They also contemplate specific actions, which include the improvement of DTT broadcast equipment and others that are almost exclusively related to storm damage and other meteorological phenomena this spring. Modifications will allow Nijar to contract additional technical services for the preparation and implementation of projects. These will include several million euros in investment in the municipality.
We can respond to emergency situations such as these that have arisen after the spring storms, simply because we are now owing 23,000,000 euros in loans and unpaid bills from previous PP governments, to more than 20million investment capacity. . This is what we call efficient management of the City Council’s own resources. We have saved money without increasing taxes on citizens. It was a commitment we made six years ago, and we have kept it. We cannot forget that our debt came from the people who made the biggest tax increases in Nijar.
Nijar will now be able make improvements to the beach access and services during the summer season with the budget modification. We have 52 km of coastline and 26 beaches. The visitor doesn't care who maintains it or how they get there. They are just interested in enjoying the beach and not worrying about the Board. Like our neighbors, this same visitor wants to see TV on the coast and to have access to public services to meet the incredible increase in population each summer. It is evident that, regardless of whether there is competition, these actions are necessary to maintain the other pillar of our economy: tourism. And, best of all, we can now do them." said the mayor.
From the surplus accumulated in recent years, the total amount of treasury leftovers to be incorporated into the budget year will be 2,000,000 Euros. This will be done the same way as the funds were used to fund the budget for the bicycle lane from Campohermoso and San Isidro. It will also include the adaptation of the Civil Guard Barracks and the Nijar Fire Station.
The mandatory approval of an Anti-Fraud Plan to manage the Recovery, Transformation and Resistance Plan was also approved in plenary. A further step is the commissioning infrastructure to ensure the water supply and purification to the current population and increase in summer.
The control activity reported the liquidation and termination of the budget for 2021 in the final points of the plenary. This shows that there is a surplus of more than 20,000,000 euros in the remaining treasury and a 17.54 day average payment period to suppliers.
