On the occasion of World Theater Day activities in the city, the XIX edition of Municipal School Theater Campaign took place at the Municipal Theater of Armilla. These cultural activities were part of the 2018-2019 academic calendar according to data provided by the City Council.
The Acuario theatre company performed the play "La visita de Amapola" to the young students. Diego Guzman directed this children's play. It tells the story about two brothers who get a visit from Amapola, their aunt, who is full of magic, music, and sensitivity. The performance was enjoyed by both boys and girls. They were able to participate in several songs and hear Amapola's stories. The musical theater is suitable for children aged 4 and up.
Culture and equality
Sources from the Municipal Corporation explain that the show, which was centered on Armilla’s youngest students, allowed the theater company "in an extraordinary way with the public...promoting values as important equality and recycling, and achieving a corresponding participatory atmosphere." This season's novelty is that all courses have a show.
Sergio Baena (local councilor for education) pointed out that the nineteenth edition belonged to one of the most important Andalusian school theater campaigns. The Mayor expressed his satisfaction at the "good reception" of the Campaign which was received well by the provincial educational centers. According to the City Council, the goal of the meeting was "to promote culture and theater love among children."
The Consistory explains that children's theater is important for its entertainment and pedagogical qualities. These cultural activities have enjoyed a great response and successful attendance since the beginning. This encourages the Consistory to keep betting on new editions. "The little ones are the future public", they say from the government team.
