Mushroom courses in Hattingen - it's also about mindfulness

I was born with a passion for mushrooms. I come from a family that has been collecting them for generations. The knowledge was always passed on to the younger ones. My son is also an avid collector. Learning about mushrooms from ancestors is the best way.

We offer mushroom courses and seminars throughout NRW. With us, however, people not only learn to identify mushrooms and to recognize them, for example, by their shape and smell. It's also always about mindfulness and the awareness that there are laws in the forest too. For example, many do not know that they are only allowed to collect one kilo of mushrooms. It is also not necessary to go deep into the forest when collecting, to disturb the animals and to trample everything down. One can find many mushrooms near the paths.

We also offer guided tours for participants who are not at all familiar with the subject. We try to show you the species that are easy to recognize and collect: These include chestnuts, goat's lips, porcini, the "Creamed mother hen" and chanterelles. They all have lots of minerals and vitamins.

Students as well as seniors take part in our courses. One notices that people have become closer to nature. That was the case even before the current crisis and had to do with Corona: people realized that they had lost touch with nature. During the pandemic, they were happy to spend more time outside.

My favorite mushroom is the "Krause Glucke". I make them in the pan in green pepper sauce. When cooked with cream, they have a great flavor of vanilla and herbs.
