More than 250 children in need will be served by the Summer Schools of the North District.

The 13th edition of the Summer Schools of the North district is celebrated with 250 children aged 6-17 years old. This year, 60 minors from Ukraine were added to the mix. They will be receiving social and educational attention throughout the vacation period, and a special feeding program.

Francisco Cuenca, the mayor of Granada, stated this during a visit at CEIP Juan Ramon Jimenez. This is one of two centers where the Fundacion Obra Social Padre Manjon, with the collaboration from the Granada City Council, and the Junta de Andalucia, a socio-educational care program.

Cuenca emphasized the importance of North Summer Schools due to the "permanent and ongoing care" provided to children in need through social intervention and care for socially vulnerable children. This allows them to have social interaction with other schoolchildren, and complements the educational and social care they receive during the course.

It also indicated that participation of 5-year old children with siblings in the program was possible. Additionally, technical personnel for social Integration were hired to care for two minors who have functional diversity (cerebral palsy or TEA) "that require ongoing care from a specialist".

The Summer Schools of Northern District will be held at the CEIP Juan Ramon Jimenez. There will be 150 to 175 minors attending, and the CEIP Andalucia where as many as 75 people are expected to attend.

Concerning minors from Ukraine: They have been referred to the Red Cross by the Community Social Services of the Granada City Council. A program with educational themes will also be developed. It promotes coexistence, relationships, and emotional development.

There is a morning classroom, individualized attention for families, and many other activities, such as recreational outings, excursions and educational games. There is also a dining room and breakfast, as well as snacks and snack.
