Maracena makes its municipal offices as classrooms

Both fathers and mothers are having a difficult time returning to school. Uncertain returns to school can cause confusion among educators about the procedures that will be followed in classrooms, capacity, and so forth.

Maracena is the most worrying case, as it is the only municipality with over 20,000 residents that has only one secondary education institution. This is due to the overcrowding and saturated Maracen Institute.

The City Council has reached out to the Ministry of Education in order to make available offices within the municipality that can be used for teaching purposes. The Ministry has access to more than 6,000 sqm of municipal facilities, the most recent of which was built in order to reduce the capacity of Maraceneros centres. Noel Lopez, a local councilor believes it is "necessary" and urgent to provide assistance to ensure that students return to school safely.

Likewise, Maracena City Council does not know the protocols to be followed in the centers despite numerous letters being sent to Granada's education delegation asking for information. This hinders cooperation for the most uncertain return of school in history.
