38,668 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.
Compared to the previous week, there is a very strong minus of 51 percent.
After two days with a significantly increasing nationwide 7-day incidence, the value is now falling just as significantly, from 294 to 262.
The incidence is falling across the board, all 16 federal states are down compared to the previous day.
In a week-on-week comparison, 15 of the 16 countries are in negative territory, with the exception of Schleswig-Holstein.
The values are also declining in Lower Saxony, which was noticed at the beginning of the week with a particularly significant increase in numbers: the day before yesterday, 17 urban and rural districts in Lower Saxony had an incidence of more than 500. Today there is only one: the city of Osnabrück.
Just under 3 weeks ago, the (reported) number of active cases was 1.74 million.
After a further decline of more than four percent yesterday, the million mark is now undershot for the first time since October 6th.
The lows for the year have so far been reached in early January and mid-September – at a good 590,000 each.
