Las Norias is home to more than 1000 students who promote healthy living.

This week, students and associations demonstrated once more the commitment of the Las Norias de Daza nucleus to the Environment. The celebration included a full week of activities to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of the environment, respecting nature and sustainability.

This Second Environment Week saw more than 50 activities being carried out by the departments of Agriculture and Environment and Social Services. They were accompanied by the Community of Las Norias and the Local Board of Education, and also the Community of Las Norias.

The inter-centre school race was the most significant of all the events. It involved around 1,300 students from San Ignacio de Loyola and Mirasierra schools, La Nana, La Nana, Las Norias Children's Schools as well as the Institute of Education Francisco Montoya Secondary Schools. This event became a day of cooperation around sport practice and promotion of healthy living habits and included participation by the Municipal Sports Institute.

Francisco Perez, the Councilor for Agriculture and the Environment, stated that the City Council promotes awareness and actions in favor of protecting the environment all year. This is a step towards a more sustainable society.

Other activities included an excursion to Almunya del Sur Botanical Garden and workshops to build homes and bird feeders. There were also stories about caring for the environment and a photographic exhibit about how to create 'green corners'.

Among the workshops were seed bombs which the children took home. This was either because the color of the food and the amount of water required to make it or the healthiest foods.

This is all, without forgetting about the job orientation talks that focus on the professional opportunities agriculture and the environment can offer in Poniente Almeria to Secondary school students.

Many activities were possible because of the cooperation of local companies, such as Grupo Agroponiente or Grupo Cristalplant, in the case for biological control.

The 2nd Environment Week was supposed to conclude tomorrow, Sunday. However, it was postponed. There was a day of awareness and sensitization in Balsa del Sapo. This would include cleaning the environment. Families and neighbors were expected to participate in this cleanup.
