A workshop that was organized by the Department of Youth of the City Council and the Equality and Youth section of the Granada Provincial Council helped more than twenty youth from La Zubia learn how to 'rap' and create their own videos.
The Casa de la Juventud hosted this initiative for the first time in the metro area. Antonio Arquelladas, Zubian Youth Councilor, explains that the initiative teaches young people how to record and edit their own music and video clips.
The kids then recorded their own songs in the Casa de la Juventud sound studio with the help of a professional rapper.
Mayor Arquelladas points out that this initiative was a "real success of participation" as well as that the Department of Youth will "repeat this rap workshop soon, since that is what the young participants have asked us to do." Arquelladas mentions that the La Zubia Youth House also offers a full year of programs that include different performing arts such as the Film School and the Urban Dance School.

The Department of Youth also offers a course in social skills through performing arts. Participants learn to express emotions, feelings, and develop social skills. This workshop was attended by twenty other youth who decided to rap about their feelings.
Puri Lopez, La Zubia's mayor, says that the rap workshop has allowed the young people to make new friends and interact in a healthy way. She also explains that they have been able to learn about the music industry through the eyes of professionals.
