La Zubia women have collected more than 300 books for the Albolote prison book library

La Zubia women, who are part of the Weavers of Dreams group, have collected more than 300 books for the Albolote Prison library. They have woven over thirty scarves of purple wool in recent months. These scarves were then exchanged with cookies from a neighbor for books for prisoners at the Granada prison.

This solidarity initiative was organized to mark International Women's Day. The women created a large purple bow that measured more than 60 meters long. It has been displayed on Casa Pinta's facade in recent weeks.

Rebeca Sanchez and Natalia Arregui are the councilors of Equality and Citizen Participation of La Zubia. They point out that the exchange of solidarity scarves and books for cookies will continue at Casa Pinta until April 31st. Julia Patricia Canigueral Jimenez, granddaughter to Enrique Jimenez "Gabiarra", baker at El Horno de Ana, made the cookies. Also, new and used books are being collected.

Puri Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia thanks the Weavers of Dreams, and all the women of La Zubia who participated in this project, "for their enthusiasm to help the Albolote jail, whose managers have expressed their gratitude to La Zubia as well as neighboring municipalities, for this amazing solidarity initiative."
