Next Saturday, January 22nd, more than 350 non-federated swimmers will take part in one of the Provincial Basic Swimming Sessions tests (JONAB). This test is integrated into the XI Winter Swimming Circuit organized by the Granada Provincial Council and the Andalusian Swimming Feder. The tests will be held in La Zubia's municipal swimming pool and are co-organized by the Swim Granada Swimming Club and the Sports Area of the City Council.
The tests will be held in the metropolitan area, just as it has been since the creation of the circuit eleven years ago. This is in order to encourage swimmers from different indoor pools to participate in this sport. It also serves to promote non-federated swimming, and provide an attractive competition for citizens who are regulars in the sport.
The 25 meter freestyle event and 25 backstroke events will be held at La Zubia's municipal swimming pool.
The competition was created by the municipalities' schools in the various municipalities to provide coverage for girls and boys who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity. Miriam Espinola, Councilor for Sports of La Zubia explains that this goal has been achieved in large numbers as the number of participants keeps growing each year.
These are the swimming schools and clubs that will be participating in the day on Saturday.
Puri Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia, explains that there will be around thirty swimmers of all ages from La Zubia participating in the competition. He also highlights the "excellent atmosphere" that is created every year at our municipal swimming pool on this day. This is a testament to the huge acceptance of grassroots sport in our community.
