The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated on December 3. The City Council of La Zubia from the area of Social Welfare and Sports collaborates with other entities to carry out activities that are aimed at this collective.
This programming aims to make people with disabilities more visible and make society more aware of their circumstances. The first activity was an inclusive zumba class and a futsal tournament, which were held in La Zubia's Sports Pavilion. More than 50 Docete Omnes users participated in this competition.
Puri Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia attended the event, along with Rebeca Sanchez, the councilor for Social Welfare and Sports, Mirian Espanola.
This week, La Zubia's municipal buildings will be lit up yellow as a sign of people with disabilities.
Athletes from the Laurel de la Reina Martial Arts Club will also be exhibiting SLOC (an inclusive and wheelchair-friendly martial art) at the IES Laurel de la Reina on Friday, December 3.
Afternoon march that starts at 4:30 p.m. will take place. It will go through the streets of the town, and end at Casa Pinta. There, a document prepared for the Docete Omnes foundation, will be read. .
The City Council of La Zubia is encouraging all residents of the metro area to join this march by using the slogan "Towards an inclusive and accessible world."
