Through the Department of Health, the City Council of La Zubia has launched a new edition of their School of Life. This will assist its neighbors, and especially those with chronic diseases, to improve their quality of living.
This nine-year-old activity includes a series free workshops by Tomas Quirosa (City Council psychologist), aimed at people suffering from fibromyalgia and chronic pain, anxiety or loneliness due to caring for elderly or dependent people. .
"We also help those who are suffering from disappointment or chronic emptiness," says Rebeca Sanchez, Councilor for Health of La Zubia.
Classes at the Escuela Vida de La Zubia are taught at Casa Pinta. They consist of a therapeutic experience of 10 group sessions. This is based on Tomas Quirosa's research and was awarded a second prize by the Council of Colleges of Psychologists of Spain as well as the Higher Institute of Psychological Studies for the best doctoral thesis.
Puri Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia, says that the municipality was a pioneer in implementing therapeutic workshops in Granada nine-years ago. In 2013, our School of Life helped more than 450 La Zubian residents improve their quality of living. People with chronic illnesses will benefit from this workshop and can live a more fulfilling life.
