In the framework of Erasmus, several European teachers meet in Las Gabias

On the occasion of Erasmus, several European teachers of gifted students from Hungary and Slovakia visited Las Gabias. This plan, which is related to education, training and youth, was developed by the European Commission for the period 2014-2025. It promotes job opportunities and personal development in teaching.

This program is offered by the Montevives Secondary School. Teachers have been searching for strategies to maximize the potential of students for several days. They are convinced that high abilities don't mean students should be discouraged from learning, but rather, they can be an asset to the student and the society..

Vanessa Polo, the mayor of Las Gabias and Maria Jose Perez the Councilor for Education received the European teachers at Torreon de Las Gabias. They expressed their gratitude for their "fruitful stay" in the metropolis. Sources from the Consistory reveal that the teachers at the institute have "always been interested in improving their attention to students." They point out that they noticed a lack in experience and tools to help students with high potential. They felt that they weren't well prepared to address their needs.

This concern led to the formation of a working group made up of teachers from the institute. From this came the idea to connect with other schools and non-governmental organizations from other European countries, who have the same needs. This project relies on constant communication between partners as well as training meetings.

These meetings are used to share ideas, concerns and monitor progress. The meeting was a forum where teachers debated topics such as the socio-affective curriculum for gifted students. This is an area in which the Montevives Institute has made significant inroads in recent years.
