The citizen participation process has been initiated by the Huercal-Overa City Council for the preparation and implementation of its Urban Agenda. Huercal-Overa was one of 120 Spanish municipalities that were selected to be a pilot project and receive 100,000 euros in subsidies. Now, the city council is launching the phase of citizen participation. This involves the cooperation of its neighbors in the creation of its Action Plan Local.
Since its inception, the City Council has worked for many years on various projects that would allow creation of a more sustainable, socio-economic, and environmental Villa. These plans, along with the challenges identified and shared by citizens, will be used to create a diagnosis of the municipality. This will help to establish the foundation for the Huercal-Overa Urban Agenda.
Huercal-Overa residents are an integral part of the creation of the Urban Agenda. In the coming weeks, they will be asked to collaborate through questionnaires, suggestion boxes and meetings with agents social networks.
The mayor, Domingo Fernandez, encouraged the residents "to be part of the Urban Agenda", completing the surveys in person at different points and through the city council's website www.huercal-overa.es. He said that the Urban Agenda was a crucial tool for bringing together the Huercal-Overa future.
