First running of the bulls in Pamplona, a safe but clean affair

Pamplona, after the pandemic break, has resumed running bulls today with a clean but dangerous run of bulls from Nunez del Cuvillo ranch.

The bulls' behavior was admirable, but there was a moment of danger in the City Hall. No gorings were recorded. The herd that was grouped on the first section of the route has split up at Calle Estafeta. They have enjoyed some nice races and some danger on the final stretch.

There were moments of tension when Montonera threatened to enter the bullring, but the bulls managed to overcome the threat. It took just 2 and 1/2 minutes to confine the bulls. Five bulls were taken to hospital but it did not goring.

The rocket that announced the long-awaited first run of the bulls sounded at 8:20 AM. However, the bulls took only a few seconds before they left the gas pens. They have almost not stopped since the entrance to the square, even though they picked up their rhythm.

There have been slips in the Cuesta Santo Domingo, but they haven't been very important because the horned bulls followed the gentle ones who opened the herd quickly. The herd has grown in size over time, which has allowed for beautiful races among the young men.

The Mercaderes curve saw the bull in the lead slip and collide with the boards. However, they quickly got up and headed up Calle Estafeta.

The lead has been taken by two halters, which allowed runners to search for the gap between bulls' horns. Telefonica was hit with more falls than expected, although the bulls did not seem to mind. However, it allowed the herd to regroup.

The alley was the most intense, with a young man falling to the ground from being hit by a piton from a halter. After this, several young men fell simultaneously to the right and to the left, narrowing the path for the herd which had run over some of them. The bulls were able to access the square's pigsties without any major setbacks, and they didn't spend too much time in the albero.

This Thursday, thousands of people from Pamplona travelled to the Navarran capital to witness the procession honoring San Fermin. The municipal corporation headed by Enrique Maya, the mayor, left the Town Hall at ten o’clock in the morning. He was accompanied by La Pamplonesa and txistularis as well as the Giants and Big Heads group, La Pamplonesa and timbaleros, liveries, maceros and other performers, who went to the Cathedral to collect the Cabildo. They moved together to the Chapel of San Fermin from where the saint had left in procession through Old Town to the cheers of the Pamplona people.

The street image of San Fermin is the genesis of so-called momenticos'. These include the jota to San Anton's 'Glorioso San Fermin’ in Plaza del Consejo, the jota at San Cernin's 'Pocico’ of San Cernin, where flowers are placed on the St to the sound of?Agur Jaunak, the jota from Los Amigos del Arte Mayor or the jota del Arte del Arte del Arte del Arte del Arte Mayor

At 12:15 p.m. the saint has already returned from San Lorenzo to his chapel. The mass in San Fermin's honor, officiated jointly by Francisco Perez, Archbishop of Pamplona and the Cathedral Chapter, has started.
