First meeting of workers to define the strategic lines for the Urban Agenda of Ubeda

Ubeda City Council held an open day to validate the diagnosis and the recommendations for the Action Plan of the Urban Agenda of Ubeda. This initiative is based on the international framework of the goals of sustainable development ( Agenda 2030), and more specific global goals related to human settlements(New Urban Agenda of the United Nations, and Urban Agenda of the European Union), and seeks to ensure safe, sustainable and inclusive communities.

The Urban Agenda is intended to be an 'a la carte' menu for all city actors. The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has a list of strategic objectives. Each city can work on its own local scale to achieve these objectives.

The Consistory of Ubet has been working within this framework to develop a local action program for the Spanish Urban Agenda. This plan will serve as a strategic framework that allows the city to rethink its urban model, leading it to ensure greater equity and cohesion. Social, creating stable and decent employment while protecting the environment.

This objective will be met by work in several phases. These include the creation of a diagnosis that will identify the goals and challenges of the Urban Agenda in Ubeda. Then, the actions and solutions will be suggested, according to the Spanish Urban Agenda's 10 strategic objectives.

Consequently, both political and technical officials from the local administration were present at the Palacio Marques de Contadero in various work groups. The goal was to validate the progress in the diagnostic stage and jointly debate the starting point as well as the major challenges facing the city of Ubeda.

The lines of action that will be used to guide the development of specific projects and proposals was also outlined. The day was broken up into four work tables, where topics like 'Governance' and 'Economy and innovation, tourism, and culture', as well as 'Urbanism’, Social welfare and training, equality, and environment' were discussed.
