Final approval of the animal welfare ordinance

Last Thursday's September municipal plenary session unanimously approved the new Municipal Animal Welfare and Protection Ordinance. This regulation replaces the 2000 version and includes a title that regulates and controls feline colonies. Before the ordinance was prepared, the City Council met with professionals to get their opinions. The document was also submitted for public consultation.

Jesus Aguilar (Councilor for the Environment) pointed out that Alcala la Real is now at the forefront of Andalusian municipalities having a similar animal rights population. We worked hard to create updated and complete regulations for the municipality. This will be a benefit for everyone.

Aguilar thanked the Environment Area for their work and the involvement by various groups in the city to create the ordinance. He stressed that it was a complete document, adaptable to regional regulations which had been to regulate all aspects of the possession of domestic animals. This was done with the participation municipal groups, professionals, and technicians>>.

People who violate the civic norms of coexistence or animal rights may be punished. Adoption will be encouraged and sold.
