During searches, drug investigators found a kilogram of cocaine and arrested four alleged perpetrators. An arrest warrant had already been issued against three of the men, which was now executed by officers from the drug department (LKA 62), the police said on Wednesday. The fourth had been brought before a magistrate for possession of the seized cocaine.
The searches had already taken place on Tuesday in the Hamm, Hammerbrook, Lohbrügge and Rahlstedt districts and in Glinde (Stormarn district). About 20 grams of marijuana and various phones and laptops belonging to the alleged perpetrators were also seized. In addition, asset investigators from the LKA 66 arrested around 57,000 euros.
Further EncroChat data had been evaluated for the investigation. The encryption software is often used by criminals for illegal business. Due to its complex encryption, the service was considered unbreakable until authorities in the Netherlands and France were able to siphon off data. Since then, the data has been evaluated throughout Europe and has repeatedly led to arrests.
According to the police, the current suspicion of dealing in cocaine and marijuana in Hamburg is directed against a total of five suspects, including the three arrested - two 37-year-old Greeks and a 28-year-old German. A 33-year-old German suspect, in whose apartment cocaine was found in Hamm, was provisionally arrested by the police and taken to the pre-trial detention center. The result of the demonstration before a magistrate is still pending. The fifth member of the alleged gang, a 39-year-old German-Afghan, remained at large for lack of reasons for detention.
According to the police, no further evidence could be secured during another short-term search of a garage in Rahlstedt, which was probably used as a storage room. The investigations, conducted jointly by the public prosecutor's office and the criminal police, are ongoing.
