Donald Trump, the out of time

In the 2016 Republican primary, Donald Trump diagnosed his fellow party member Jeb Bush with “low energy”. You know how things turned out. Trump, full of energy, defeated Bush and became a candidate and president.

When he ran for the Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday, Trump seemed tired, jittery and anything but energetic by his standards. Was it because he read his speech almost continuously from the teleprompter? Anyone who is used to the appearances of the rhetorical volcano Trump had to be disappointed. That was almost sleepy.

Even more remarkable: Trump almost completely dispensed with the usual core of his speeches, namely the complaint about the 2020 presidential election that was “stolen” from him. Whether advisors have told Trump in the meantime that the Americans are busy with a lot, but hardly the offended whining of an old man on the grassroots baseless allegations?

Trump didn't say a word about abortion. It was the Supreme Court, which he had pimped up conservatively, that had delighted the Republicans with its verdict in the summer! The only stupid thing is that the Supreme Court angered many Americans at the same time. The Democrats benefited from this in the recent midterm elections. Meanwhile, one state after the other is enshrining the right to abortion in referendums. Even Kentucky!

Trump's third candidacy for the presidency looks bland, stale, outdated. Nevertheless, Trump will entertain his party, the USA and the world with mock indignation and skilful demagogy. But do the Americans really want this president of all people a. D. as a future president? In the midterm elections on November 7th, the Trumpists, the "Crazies", failed in the crucial swing states. Moderate Democrats prevailed.

The election victory, which the Republicans announced as a “tsunami”, turned out to be a gentle breeze. For over a week we had to count until we had a wafer-thin majority in the House of Representatives. The internal quarrels among the Republicans are likely to become all the more stormy: who will compete in 2024? Who will be Speaker of the House in January? Meanwhile, inflation is falling and the job market is booming. Joe Biden likes this.
