The development plan for the area of the former "Esso houses" on the Reeperbahn has been officially approved. District office manager Ralf Neubauer (SPD) has signed the project-related development plan for the area in the center of the St. Pauli district, as the Hamburg-Mitte district office announced on Monday. Around 200 new apartments are to be built on the approximately 6,000 square meter area under the name "Paloma district". Of these, more than 60 percent are publicly subsidized rental apartments and joint building ventures, commercial, retail and entertainment businesses.
According to Neubauer, the “Paloma Quarter” is being developed in the heart of St. Pauli by the district. With the decision, an intensive and long-term work process between the authorities, the owner Bavarian Hausbau and the district comes to an end, "but the result is impressive," said Neubauer.
The Hamburg-Mitte district office and Bayerische Hausbau are now aiming for final talks in the short term to prepare the necessary building applications, it said.
