Despite the crises, Germans are hardly afraid of losing their jobs

According to a survey, the current crises are not fueling job anxiety among most Germans. According to the Job Happiness Study 2022 published on Wednesday by the career network Xing, 69 percent of those surveyed were not worried about their professional future. For those over 56, the rate is as high as 75 percent. For the survey, the opinion research institute Forsa interviewed around 3,000 employees on behalf of Xing.

"The lack of skilled workers seems to be more evident in the minds of those in employment than concerns about the economy," said Petra von Strombeck, head of the Xing operator New Work. "Today, companies have to apply to job seekers and talented people - and not the other way around." Against this background, 89 percent of those surveyed in the study stated that they considered themselves attractive to potential employers.

The survey also found that 35 percent of employees worked longer hours to replace missing colleagues. Almost as many (31 percent) described themselves as overworked or stressed. Eleven percent worked overtime without pay or time off in lieu. In addition, a quarter of those in employment judged their pay to be unfair in general.
