Cazorla pays tribute to the past through the I Overtaking Festival

Between October 3 and 6, the 21st century's 'City of the Theater,' and the 'Cazorleans, will be returning with the I Advancement Festival. The Overtaking of Cazorla was a time when the region's cultural and social progress was evident. However, it also facilitated a political-religious, and architectural development that has, without doubt, reached our times. Although it is a different design than the one they plan to recreate, it will be more in line with today's needs and demands. It is believed that the Iglesia mayor de Santa Maria, which was designed by Andres de Valdivia, is not one of these. Instead, Plaza de Santa Maria is a scenic space in Andalusia. Although it was once a business and neuralgic hub in Cazorla, it has become a tourist attraction and historical landmark.

Cazorla hopes to pay homage to a time when its face has been partially altered by offering a wide range of activities. The Cazorla City Council collaborated with all associations in the area, as well many neighbors, who were responsible for making period costumes and preparing theatrical proposals (one per day) that feature scenes of historical significance, Renaissance music, dance, and guided visits to various attractions from the municipal historical heritage.

Antonio Jose Rodriguez, the mayor of Cazorla presented the 1st Overtaking Festival at the Plaza de la Corredera. He was accompanied by representatives of the Cazorla association. He then explained the program, which began on Thursday, October 3 with the proclamation from the City Hall balcony. This will be followed by a gastronomic tour, the inauguration and celebration of the livestock fair and the so-called "poor party". Students from the two schools, as well as the IES 'Castillo de la Yedra, will be able to explore the history of Overtaking on Friday. The street artists will then be invited to paint in the Plaza de la Corredera. A falconry exhibit will also be on display. Activities of equal importance will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
