Caritas Baza expands its facilities

Caritas Baza just opened an expansion to its Santa Barbara Street facility. The new premises will enable better operation and distribution of the available space. The NGO acquired low annexes, and has added them as dependencies. This allows for a better organization and distribution of different dependencies.

As the former bishop Juan Garcia Santacruz did, the facilities were inaugurated by Francisco Jesus Orozco Mengibar. The ceremony was attended also by Manolo Gavilan, the Mayor of Baza and Mariana Palma, Mariana Palma, Mariana Palma and Emilio J. Fernandez, President of Caritas Interparroquial Baza; Ma Carmen Garcia Marcos, director Caritas Baza and Jose Luis Salazar, deputy director of Baza Hospital. They shared the same satisfaction at the act, and in the knowledge that it will improve Caritas' services to Bastetan society. This is in line with Caritas' objective to reach all people in need. The City Council works closely and coordinates with the municipal Social Welfare technicians and the contributions in force, which allows them to reach the most vulnerable.

Caritas Headquarters has 80% recycled furniture and fixtures. These materials have been given new life. Twenty percent of the furniture and fixtures at the Caritas headquarters are donated, including those from the Baza Hospital for the training area.

Caritas Baza distributed 15,000 kilos food to 227 families and 811 users in 2021. Statistics from last year indicate that nearly 2% of Baza's population were served. This is a testament to the effectiveness of this NGO, whose director Carmen Garcia Marcos collaborates with the president, Caritas Interparroquial Baza and Emilio Jose Fernandez, as well as the volunteers.

The bishop blessed Javier Mateos' oil painting of Jesus Christ, the rising Jesus. It is a picture painted in oil and depicts the "that comes out and meets us, offering Bread and Wine in a large field to be sown which is a vivid representation of the world>>" acknowledges the artist, while acknowledging that Emilio Jose Fernandez gave him the idea.
