Armilla celebrates the XXXVII Senior Week. This week is dedicated to honoring the elderly in the community. This week will encourage older people to have fun and relax in Armilla.
Loli Canavate (the mayor of Armilla) stated at the opening ceremony of the Tribute to the Elderly Week, that "one more years we want to devote a week to our elders to pay off the pending credit with those who have so generously supported us." Up to Sunday will be filled with talks, workshops, sports, and other activities. The councillor states that elders are worthy of our respect and hopes that they can enjoy happy and active aging with this Week by and for.
Francisca Hernandez, the Mayor's councilor, was also present. She visited the exhibits of miniature craft workshops, sewing, painting and model aircraft. This is an exhibition that collects older people's work and is part the active aging program to promote a positive image for the older residents of the city.
The event celebrates its XXXVI Edition. It has grown to be a "rooted, traditional event that aims at being a point of referee for the exchange of experience, where older persons participate and enjoy activities that promote healthy lifestyles. Activities that allow physical and mental maintenance, training and cultural, recreational activities, and theater, aimed to promote active ageing.
Loli Canavate outlines the agenda of the Department of the Elderly. It aims to be an 'tribute to' the older sector of the population. This program features a visit at the Museum of Fine Arts. It will be an intergenerational meeting where the students of the Ceips of the Town and the Painting Classroom of the Association for the Elderly can participate. The week will be concluded with the presentation of prizes to the participants in the various sports events held at the Senior Center.
The Meeting of the Elderly will be held at the Trade Fair on Thursday, April 25th at 2:20 p.m. It will be accompanied by a dance and live music. The buses will depart at 13:00 from the Municipal Theater parking lot. Next Friday's events include the women's petanque champion, the painting meeting "Draw your Museum" and a dance at the center for the aged. On April 27, the activities will be closed with the tribute week's closing ceremony and the musical performance of the Friends of the Accordion Association. This will take place in the Senior Center at 7:00 p.m.
