An ARD comment exposes the violent fantasies of the anti-racists

Two years ago, three volunteers from ARD had a good idea. You once wanted to find out how diverse the junior editors at Erste, Deutsche Welle and Deutschlandradio actually are. They sent their young colleagues a catalog of questions about their place of birth, migration background or educational qualifications, among other things. They were also asked about their party preference.

The result, which the association magazine “Journalist” reported on at the time, was something to behold. "If only the ARD volunteers were to vote on Sunday," it said, "then it would look like this": 57 percent voted for the Greens, 23 percent for the Left Party, and 12 percent for the SPD. Then the others followed with 3.9 percent and - hardly measurable - the Union with 2.6 percent and the FDP with 1.3 percent. As it turned out after publication in the "Journalist", the respondents did not know that the survey would ever be published - which makes the result even more credible.

Nils Dampz, the young ARD correspondent in Los Angeles, who published a comment on the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk on the “Tagesschau” website on Saturday, represents precisely this milieu. Dampz was apparently spooked by Musk's announcement that he wanted to make Twitter a "marketplace for debate." Dampz wrote that now "apparently racist or conspiratorial rats would be allowed to crawl out of their holes." According to Dampz, Twitter can only remain relevant “if these rats – to stay with the image of the marketplace – are beaten back into their holes”.

How clueless does a journalist have to be that he doesn't realize how much his inhumane formulation resembles Nazi propaganda? How could it get through the editorial review in this form and end up on the "Tagesschau" page? Was there an ARD volunteer on duty?

The editors have since deleted the wording and apologized for the choice of words in the comment: "It was never the goal to dehumanize anyone." Doubts are allowed. It is the misery of so many anti-racists that their hatred and fantasies of violence scarcely distinguish them from their radical opponents.
