This weekend, La Zubia will travel back to the Middle Ages. In particular, to 1491 when Queen Isabella, the Catholic visited Al Zawiya, an Arab name for La Zubia. It was this visit that lead to the Battle at La Zubia in which the Christian and Nasrid armies clashed a few month before the surrender to Granada.
Parque de la Encina, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 18, 19, and 20, will be home to the medieval market of La Zubia. Visitors can enjoy crafts stalls and workshops, parades, plays, and other activities.

The Zubian medieval market offers a variety of options, from handicrafts to traditional medieval foods, through musical instruments and goldsmith gifts to the typical Spanish food.
Antonio Arquelladas (Councilor for Youth) explains that the City Council of La Zubia has "put all its enthusiasm into this market, and returns after two years without any hold due to the pandemic, and that we are confident that it will succeed in terms of influx." The Department of Fiestas is also part of the organization.
Puri Lopez, La Zubia's mayor, spoke out about how the Parque de la Encina would be "animated continuously throughout the weekend" by various theater and musical groups that will recreate the atmosphere of medieval stalls.
