A show to feel Ubeda, and make it available to everyone

Students from the Santo Domingo Savio Salesian school in Ubeda created an exhibition that allows them to experience and perceive the town's heritage in a sensory manner. This makes it an important tool for inclusion. This initiative is the culmination of the project 'Ubeda to feel to see', part of the educational innovation program ’Living and Feeling Heritage’ of the Andalusian Government.

Students from second, third, and fourth years have built a small museum that collects their work in various areas, including Geography, History, Art Language, Mathematics, English and Latin, and Music. This multidisciplinary project resulted in a sensory exhibit that aims at making Ubetense heritage truly inclusive and universal. It is primarily aimed at adults and children with special needs. The center sought the guidance of specialized organizations to achieve this.

The Renaissance stage in Ubeda is the focus of the exhibition. It consists of many spaces that each have a specific meaning. You can touch and see the models in different sizes and materials (plaster, 3D printing, or recycled cardboard). Each model is accompanied with an audio explanation that you can access via a QR code.

A sound landscape allows him to walk through the Renaissance city, listening to the various sounds of the time. The smell of the soil around the city was used to discover the type of cultivation. A children's section explains through adaptation stories the history of Ubeda.

It is an exhibition that seeks to remove barriers and increase awareness of the Ubetense heritage. It is clear that everything can be touched and felt in this exhibition. Yesterday's inauguration was a success. The public enjoyed each piece and praised the efforts of the students involved in the creation of the project.

Palmira Gonzalez, the provincial manager of plans and programs of education innovation at the Junta de Andalucia was present, as well as other members of special-needs associations such As ONCE, Aprompsi and Jaen Down Syndrome Association, and Provincial Association of Autism of Jaen "Juan Martos Perez".
