A Briton aged 65-70 years who doesn't speak Spanish but lives in Benijofar (Alicante), discovered Monday that he was awarded 75,000 euros as a tenth prize in the extraordinary lottery of Child.
The ticket was purchased at the local tobacconist in this small village in the province of Alicante. Inmaculada Gimenez Ortega reported that the man discovered about the prize around noon.
He went to his establishment, patiently waiting his turn. There were also many customers at the time. When he got to the window, he saw that his number (61,776) had been posted on multiple posters.
I didn't know the date or if he won anything. He waited in line for a while, but he noticed that the number he was wearing was listed on the posters. It turned yellow, white, and he nearly fainted., said the tobacconist.
Gimenez Ortega accompanied Gary, the lucky man's name, to a Banco Sabadell branch nearby. The Briton stayed there and chatted with the director who speaks English.
This isn't the first time that a Benijofar tobacconist, a small town in the Vega Baja area, has given out a prize from El Nino. It was only a year ago that it sold ten tenths (a complete set) of the second prize to a family who won EUR750,000.
Yesterday, he discovered that he had presented this award to him twelve months ago. His mobile phone rang yesterday and he received many messages via Whatsapp.
